6th Alarm+ Gordon Ave, Providence RI - This 5 story Mill was nestled in the heart of a residential community in the south end, many were built this way in the early 1900s. A fast spreading fire consummed this structure and many surrounding homes in this rush hour conflagration. Every piece of appratus was utilised from the city except 1 ladder company. Numerous outside companies assisted the City of Providence to cover the city for the next 24hrs. Deputy Chief Paul Wentworth pictured here gave his size up as " were setting up for a major incident here the 4th & 5th alarms will be transmitted soon" The total 6th alarms were transmitted in less then 15 mins. 3rd Alarm, Daboll St - Providence RI - This early morning blaze had (2) fully involved 3 sty woods on arrival. Eng 10 had to use master streams to protect exposures. In the late 80s these type of fire were common in the south end. (photo by: Ray Taylor C-4)

Union Station, Providence RI - This General alarm on a early sunday morning heavly damaged this downtown landmark. The building is currently the home of the capatol Grill & Offices adjacent the new skating rink. (Notice the Tele-Squirt in the picture Former Eng-3) (Photos by: Ray Taylor C-4)

Providence RI, Eastwood St - This 3 story woodframe dwelling was fully involved on arrival, Engine #3 coming from downtown could see the header from Rt-10. This fire damaged 7 building before being put under control.

Providence RI - Pine & Peck St, Outlet Building - This 5 story retail store closed it's doors in the 70s and was a downtown landmark. During the early hours on a Monday morning the building again opened it's doors only this time for the Providence Fire Fighters. Companies battles this blaze for more then 5 hours before gaining the upper hand. The location today is the site of Johnson & Wales University's Downtown Campus.
